Social and cultural dimensions of health
Menopause is not a pathology,
it is just another stage of life
Women should be prepared for this change. They often experience this event in solitude and feel a form of shame.
Over 40% of postmenopausal or premenopausal women have heard sarcasm about it. One of the most common prejudices is: "It's her menopause that affects her morale" mirrored: "she is having her period".
It could be almost seen as funny, but in reality it is painful : in 2021, to speak about periods, contraception, how to make ********* and other details it is normal. However, talking about the end of your periods... Menstruation is still a taboo.
Women who are more or less famous sometimes want to talk about the sexual violence they have suffered, even going so far as to give details. But no woman will want to talk about her menopause, because in the imagination it means that they are no longer attractive, that they are old, in short, that they are good to be discarded.
In 1800, modern medicine prescribed bloodletting or the imposition of leeches to treat this blood retention considered morbid.
Do not confuse the imposition of leeches with the imposition of the hands of the magnetizer.
Over the centuries, this completely natural event was seen more and more as a very negative way and as a feminine aging. The pathological conception of menopause was born.
It's time to understand that menopause is a natural part of a woman's life, and shouldn't be seen as a problem. It is possible that this design will benefit some people.
However, it is certain that this moment will pass much more easily if not very easily if we do not perceive it as a problematic period. How we will experience the end of menstruation will have a big role in the perceptions experienced.
Unfortunately, it is evident that in our time, it is more difficult to go through menopause as an executive because it can undermine authority or lead to mockery. Whereas in the countryside this event is taken with more detachment.
Vaginal dryness is not a requirement for women at this time of their life. It is only due to a lack of desire. It is for this reason that women who start a new story after 50 do not have this symptom. Biology is ultimately less strong than desire.
One last very important point: some women propagate the concept of andropause to men in a spirit of false equality.
This business idea, imagined at the end of the last millennium, was a flop. But as everything comes to those who wait … by surreptitiously infiltrating... these good salespeople manage to re-germinate the notion of andropause.
Out of pity, ladies, balance the scales.
It’s not a disease for women, it’s not a disease for men and we are equal.
Just because menopause is not a disease and should no longer be a taboo does not mean that andropause should take its place by becoming a disease.
Vaccinate boys against HPV
Some HPVs are responsible for 6,300 cancers in France.
Men represent 1/4 of cancers associated with HPV infection. The most common cancers for them are first of the ENT type, then involve the anus and the penis. This is the argument put forward in 2019 by the High Authority for Health (HAS) to justify the expansion of the vaccination of boys aged 11 to 14 with a possible catch up to 19 years.
According to the expert committee: “The data are still insufficient, but suggest a probable efficacy of the Gardasil vaccine in the ENT sphere. It has also proven its clinical efficacy in men in preventing lesions due to vaccine genotypes: anogenital warts 89.9% and precancerous lesions of the anus. ”
The advantage of targeting all boys is to avoid any stigma regarding their sexual orientation.
When a girl or a boy enters adolescence, it is now considered legitimate to be concerned about his sexual education and to try to instill in him notions of prevention.
Although I understand the interest of parents to infantilize their children to keep them dependent of them, I do not think that, at their age, they are poorer than us at the sexual level. It is actually illogical to deal with the sexuality of your children just as children do not have to deal with the sexuality of their parents.
However, it is fun to try to instill notions of prevention. Since the dawn of time, we have not tried, but we have succeeded and it was not a question of concepts, but of global information in all areas.
Vaccination against the human papillomavirus (HPV) has been on the immunization schedule for young girls since 2008 and for young boys since 2020. The vaccine has been recommended since 2017 for homosexuals up to the age of 26.
The vaccination is performed with 2 doses of Gardasil 9 supported by the CSG. There are about thirty countries which recommend this vaccination to young people of both sexes.
Some people estimate that 70% of sexually active humans (it is not specified whether one is considered active from once per hour or more than once) will have to deal with HPV at least once in their lifetime life .
It is also accepted that the risk of an infected person infecting his partner (s) is 60%. Very unfortunately, there is no percentage precision with animals !
On the other hand, it is certain that, in the great majority of cases, the body manages to eliminate the virus. In addition, having a papillomavirus is not in itself pathological.
If the papillomavirus enters the cell, it modifies its genome to deregulate it and thus give precancerous lesions. He will have all the more opportunities to enter the cell the longer he stays there.
Smoking, along with poor immunity, promotes infections.
40 is the number of HPVs that can be spread by direct sexual contact. 2 are responsible for genital warts (condylomas) and are not malignant.
HPVs cause cancers of the cervix (44%), anus (24%), oropharynx (22%), larynx, vulva, vagina and penis.
The Gardasil 9 vaccine replaced Cervarix and Gardasil 4 after some young girls developed autoimmune diseases: Guillain-Barré syndrome, multiple sclerosis or Mici.
In 2015, the National Medicines Safety Agency (ANSM) only retained an increased risk of developing Guillain-Barré syndrome, but it ruled out any link with multiple sclerosis or Mici.
The margin of ineffectiveness of the Gardasil 9 vaccine would be 10%.
